The Farewell Tour

I’m back…

It’s been awhile I know but the holidays did a number on me (as you can see from the picture below) and I’ve needed all this time to recover.

It’s January and there’s only 6 months left before I make my vows.  I’ve officially kicked off Khiem’s Farewell Tour (KFT).  I’m not sure where this tour is going and what it’ll be doing but rest assured, it will require you to fasten your seatbelts, wear a helmet and hold on for dear life.  So in the next little while, bear with me as I try to live out the remaining days of my bachelorhood.  If I ask you to come join me for a drink or a night on the town, know that is in support of the KFT.

It’s funny how men perceive or at least pretend to perceive getting married as some sort of end of the road.  The end of their so called “freedom”.  When in actuality, it’s not the end of freedom per se.  It’s the end of what men have known freedom to be.  Which can be likened to a form of anarchy.  In anarchy you have an absence of a governing body.  You answer to no one except for your own moral will (and maybe the little man in your pants).

After marriage, in most cases men still have their freedom.  The man and his partner are part of a governing body that makes decisions as a joint whole.  In most cases, the power in this governing body is shared equally and is likened to some sort of democracy.  In some rare types of government (known as the PWG, P**** whipped goverment), you own the minority and most of your decisions are vetoed and you do as you’re damn well told.  Or so I’ve heard.

So assuming you’ve lucked out and you’re heading into this new democracy of marriage, you have nothing to worry about. You will still enjoy life.  Besides, freedom is really a relative term.  In comparison to the PWG, you’re laughing.

That being said, there’s no reason why we can’t all have a farewell tour for our anarchy days.  Bring your pitchforks and torches, we’re going to wreck town until we are told to put the toilet seat down and take out the garbage.
